McKee Botanical Garden is Vero Beach's best inland sight. The garden began as a 1930s tropical attraction, declined after roadside tourism changed, and was later rescued as a smaller but much more thoughtful botanical garden.
The paths wind through palms, streams, water lilies, bamboo, and dense subtropical planting. It feels more intimate than a grand formal garden, and that is its strength: shade, water, and old Florida atmosphere instead of spectacle.
