Fountain Square

A historically working-class neighbourhood about a mile southeast of downtown that has reinvented itself over the past 15 years into one of the city's best food, bar, and music districts. The Fountain Square Theatre Building, an Art Deco landmark, houses two operating duckpin bowling alleys (rare in the United States), a rooftop bar, and the Slippery Noodle's sister blues venue.

The neighbourhood's First Friday gallery hops draw a young crowd; the rest of the month it is reliably good for tacos, burgers, craft beer, and live music. Two miles by bike or scooter from Monument Circle.
