The low concrete weir at Williams was originally built early in the 20th century to support a small hydroelectric plant; today its main role is recreational. The tailwater below the dam holds excellent populations of channel catfish, smallmouth bass, walleye, and seasonal runs of white bass, and is one of the better warm-water fishing spots in southern Indiana.
Bank access is from a small park on the south side. A local bait-and-tackle shop in the village stocks live bait, lures, and the necessary state fishing licenses. Boats can be launched at nearby ramps for floats up or down the East Fork.
