The Walnut River loops around the eastern edge of Winfield and Island Park sits on a low spit of land where the river splits. Big cottonwoods, picnic shelters, a swimming pool, baseball fields, and the original 1920s bandstand stand here. It is the place where Winfield gathers in summer.
Walk or bike the paved riverside trail from Island Park north through Tunnel Mill Park to Riverside Drive — a flat 30-minute round trip. Add a stop at the small Cowley County Historical Museum on East 9th if you want context for the town.
