Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park preserves the Sinking Spring Farm site where Lincoln was born in 1809. The centrepiece is the Memorial Building, a granite and marble structure completed in the early 20th century around a symbolic log cabin.
The park is small but more moving than it first appears. The spring, farm paths, and low Kentucky hills give the cabin story some physical context, and the visitor centre explains how Lincoln's birthplace became one of the country's earliest presidential memorial landscapes. Allow an hour, longer if you walk the short trails.
