Paducah's floodwall murals run along the riverfront, turning a piece of flood-control infrastructure into a public history walk. The large painted panels cover river trade, Native history, local industry, the Lewis and Clark story, and other episodes that explain why the city grew where it did.
It is open all day and costs nothing, which makes it easy to fold into a downtown walk. Start near Jefferson and Water streets and follow the wall south, reading the panels as you go.
