Abita Springs Tourist Park is the town's natural centre. Its two-story pavilion was built for the 1884 World's Fair in New Orleans and moved here a few years later to shelter the spring. Today the park has picnic space, playgrounds, and the Abita River running through it.
The setting is simple but pleasant, and it gives Abita Springs some real shape beyond the highway. The Abita Spring Water Festival is held here each October.
