Beauregard Town

Beauregard Town is a historic neighbourhood just east of the downtown capitol district, named for Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard and developed from the 1800s onward. It is one of the few areas in Baton Rouge where the 19th-century street grid and a substantial collection of Victorian and Craftsman-era houses survive intact.

The neighbourhood is known for its tree-lined streets, walkable scale, and community character — unusual in a city otherwise defined by sprawl. It sits directly between the LSU campus to the south and the state capitol to the west, making it a convenient place to stay and a pleasant place to wander. Several of the houses are on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighbourhood has a small but active roster of independent businesses along the main streets.
