Le Vieux Village

Le Vieux Village is an open-air collection of historic Opelousas buildings, including homes, a schoolhouse, and a chapel moved here from around St. Landry Parish. The complex gives a quick, tangible sense of local 19th-century life.

The site also includes the Louisiana Orphan Train Museum, which tells the story of children sent from New York to Louisiana families in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is one of Opelousas's most worthwhile history stops.
