Bowdoin is not just background scenery in Brunswick. The campus brings the town its best museums, a beautiful green, and a long list of American names, including Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and Joshua Chamberlain.
You do not need a formal tour to enjoy it. Walk the main quad, look for the chapel, and fold in the art museum or Arctic museum if they are open.
