Harriet Beecher Stowe House

Federal Street house where Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote much of Uncle Tom's Cabin.

Harriet Beecher Stowe lived in this Federal Street house while her husband taught at Bowdoin, and it was here that she wrote much of Uncle Tom's Cabin. The building is not a large conventional house museum, so check access before planning a visit.

Even from the outside, it is one of Brunswick's most important addresses. Pair it with nearby First Parish Church, where Stowe worshipped.
