Baltimore's Little Italy is a small residential neighbourhood just east of the Inner Harbor that has retained an Italian American character since the late 19th century, when Italian immigrants settled the area and established themselves in the canning and seafood industries. The neighbourhood is still home to Italian families, and the cluster of red-sauce Italian restaurants on Fawn and High Streets represents the most concentrated Italian dining in the city.
The outdoor movie nights projected on the side of a building on Stiles Street in summer are a neighbourhood institution — free, communal, and genuinely charming. Little Italy is walkable from the Inner Harbor and from Fells Point, and makes for a good detour en route between the two.
