Maryland Federalist Ship

If you're stuck at BWI Airport with time to kill, the Maryland Federalist is one of the more curious things to find inside the terminal. It is a 15-foot wooden ship sitting on display near Concourse D, a careful replica of a 1788 propaganda boat.

It will not detain you for long, but it is a more interesting use of an airport layover than the food court.

A story
The original Federalist was a 15-foot model ship paraded through Baltimore in 1788 to celebrate Maryland's ratification of the U.S. Constitution. After the parade it was floated down the Chesapeake to George Washington at Mount Vernon as a gift. This 1987 replica was built for the bicentennial.
