Historic St. Mary's City is the main reason to visit. It preserves the site of Maryland's first capital through archaeology, rebuilt structures, living-history interpretation, and museum exhibits.
The strongest parts are outside: the reconstructed town centre, the plantation site, the Yaocomaco village area, and the waterfront. It is especially good for families because the history is physical and spread out, not locked behind glass.
