Maryland Dove

Full-size working reconstruction of the 17th-century trading ship linked to Maryland's founding.

Maryland Dove is a full-size working reconstruction of a 17th-century trading ship associated with Maryland's first settlers. It sits at the waterfront as part of Historic St. Mary's City.

Step aboard if it is open. The ship makes the colony's geography clear in a way maps do not: early Maryland depended on river travel, Atlantic crossings, and small vessels moving tobacco and supplies through the Chesapeake.
