Black Walnut Point Natural Resources Management Area

The southern tip of Tilghman Island narrows to a sandy point where the Chesapeake Bay meets the mouth of the Choptank River, managed by Maryland as a natural resources area. The 58-acre site is quiet and largely undeveloped, with trails through loblolly pine woodland and views across the open water in three directions.

Wildlife is the draw: ospreys nest here, great blue herons wade the shallows, and in autumn and spring the point is a gathering place for migrating shorebirds. There is a small bed and breakfast on the property. The road through the preserve is gated — check access conditions before visiting.
