Chinatown Gate

Chinatown Gate marks the Beach Street entrance to Boston's Chinatown, with the district's restaurants and bakeries spreading out behind it. The gate itself is a quick stop, but it is one of the clearest visual signals that you have crossed from the financial core into one of the city's most distinctive neighbourhoods.

The plaza beside it was shaped by the Big Dig, so the setting feels newer than the old streets around it. Come through on foot rather than by car; the gate works best as a starting point for a Chinatown wander.
