Red River Beach

Red River Beach in East Harwich is the largest and most fully equipped of the Harwich beaches — a wide expanse of fine sand on Nantucket Sound with restrooms, a food truck in summer, a bike rack, and handicap-accessible paths to the water. It is a family beach in the best sense: the water is warm, the waves are gentle, and there is room to spread out.

The beach sits at the end of Uncle Venie's Lane off Route 28. It can get busy on summer weekends, but the size of the beach absorbs the crowds better than the smaller village beaches. The surrounding dunes are worth walking for the views back across the sound.
