The Mayflower II is a full-scale replica of the ship that carried 102 passengers across the Atlantic in 1620, built in England in the 1950s and sailed to Plymouth in 1957 as a gift from the British people. It docks at State Pier, steps from Plymouth Rock.
The ship underwent a multi-year restoration at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and returned to full service in 2020, in time for the 400th anniversary of the original voyage. Costumed interpreters on deck play 17th-century crew members and passengers, and will answer questions in character. The holds below give a sense of how 102 people lived (badly) for 66 days at sea — the sleeping berths are cramped, the headroom minimal. It's a better experience than the rock.
Operated by Plimoth Patuxent; a combined ticket covering the ship and the living history museum is available.
