St. Olaf College rises on the west side of Northfield, a little apart from downtown. The campus reflects the town's Norwegian-American history and is especially known for music, including the long-running St. Olaf Christmas Festival.
It is a good stop for a campus walk, a concert, or simply to understand why Northfield has a cultural life beyond what its population would suggest.
