Pipestone Station is the old Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern depot, a reminder that the town's stone buildings and county-seat role were tied to the arrival of the railroad. It sits near the north end of the small downtown area, close enough to fold into the same walk as the peace pipe and Main Street.
The depot is a quick look rather than a destination by itself. Its value is in completing the picture: quarry, prairie, railroad, and town all within a few blocks of each other.
