Percy Quin State Park lies about seven miles southwest of McComb around Lake Tangipahoa. Built as one of Mississippi's original Civilian Conservation Corps state parks, it mixes loblolly pine, magnolia, lakefront picnic areas, fishing, boating, and a short nature trail.
It is not wild country, but it is a useful change of pace after the downtown history stops. Come for a walk, a picnic, or a slow drive through the lake country rather than expecting a full-day wilderness trip.
