First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church is Port Gibson's oddest landmark, thanks to the gilded hand that points upward from the steeple instead of the usual cross. The church was completed in 1860, and the hand has become the town's most recognisable silhouette.

It is a quick stop, but a good one. Stand back on Church Street for the full effect, then continue through the old town centre and out toward the battlefield sites.
