Grand Falls is the largest natural waterfall in Missouri — a wide, low cascade where Shoal Creek pours over an exposed shelf of chert rock. It is not dramatic in the way of a tall plunge waterfall; instead it sprawls across the creek in a broad curtain, especially impressive after heavy rain when the volume of water turns the falls roaring white.
The falls are on private land managed for public access. You can walk to the edge of the bluff above the falls and down to the creek below. The surrounding area is popular with local families on summer weekends. The short walk from the car park to the overlook takes about five minutes. Swimming is possible in calm conditions, though the current can be deceptive near the spillway.
