Anderson Hollow Cove, at the zero-mile marker on the lake's main channel, has been gathering boaters since the 1950s and is now known as Party Cove — one of the most famous boat-up gathering spots in the United States. On summer weekends, hundreds of boats raft together in the cove; people swim between them, music plays from every direction, and the scene builds through the afternoon.
It is purely an informal phenomenon — no organisation runs it, no fees are charged. You anchor, you swim, you drift over to the next boat. The cove is busiest on July Fourth weekend and Labor Day.
