Pulltite is the kind of place that the rangers send you to when you ask where they actually go on a day off. The spring is mid-sized — around 21 million gallons a day — but the setting is what makes it: a bend of the Current River, a 1930s log cabin on the bank, and a short flat trail down to the spring outlet through a stand of mature trees.
It is one of the better swimming holes on the river when the water is up. The cabin is preserved but not regularly open; the campground is small and books out on summer weekends but is otherwise easy to drop into. If you are paddling the Current from Akers, this is a logical lunch stop.
