Deer Lodge Central Business Historic District

Main Street between the Old Prison and the railway tracks is a National Register historic district — a remarkably intact run of late 19th and early 20th-century commercial buildings that survived the railroad downturns largely because the town never got the money for a full rebuild. Brick storefronts, cast-iron columns, painted advertisements still legible on the brick.

The 1921 Rialto Theater is the showpiece — a 720-seat vaudeville and movie house that has been restored and runs as a community venue. A self-guided walking-tour brochure available from the Powell County visitor centre identifies the most interesting buildings; it's a pleasant 45-minute loop on a fine day.
