Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve

Surprisingly rich wetland birding spot near Las Vegas

A 140-acre wetland park built on reclaimed water treatment ponds — an unlikely setting that turns out to be one of the best birdwatching spots in southern Nevada. More than 200 species have been recorded here, including herons, egrets, avocets, and migrating shorebirds. The preserve has seven ponds connected by paved paths and several observation platforms. Free to enter, and quiet enough to feel like a world away from the Strip.
