Echo Canyon State Park is the easiest nature break from Pioche, about a half-hour east by car. A reservoir, cliffs, and desert hills make it a good place for camping, fishing, boating, and short walks when you want more than old buildings.
It also gives Pioche a stronger reason to be an overnight stop. Spend the morning with the town's mining history, then head out here for evening light over the canyon country.
