Barnegat Lighthouse State Park anchors the northern tip of Long Beach Island with the red-and-white tower that locals simply call Old Barney. The lighthouse is the island's clearest landmark, and the surrounding inlet, dunes, and maritime forest make it more than a quick photo stop.
Climb the tower when it is open for the long view over Barnegat Bay, Island Beach, and the Atlantic, or stay at ground level for the jetty walk, birding, and small interpretive center. It is one of the best places on LBI to understand the barrier island as a working coast rather than just a beach strip.
