Acoma Curio Shop (San Fidel)

Five miles west on Route 66, in the equally tiny village of San Fidel, stands another survival of the trading-post era: the Acoma Curio Shop, an adobe building covered in original 1940s painted signs advertising Indian pottery, jewellery and "filtered" gasoline. The shop closed in the 1980s and was bought by the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division, which has stabilised the exterior but left the signage intact.

It is one of the most photographed buildings on the New Mexico section of Route 66 and worth the slight detour from Budville. Combine with the equally photogenic ruins of San Fidel itself.
