Glorieta Pass Battlefield sits west of Pecos in the narrow pass used by the Santa Fe Trail. In March 1862, Union and Confederate forces fought here while a Union detachment destroyed the Confederate supply train, forcing the Texans back down the Rio Grande.
Access is controlled through Pecos National Historical Park because the interpretive trail crosses private land. Stop at the park visitor centre first for current directions and gate details.
