Chaves County Courthouse

A 1911 Classical Revival courthouse on Main Street.

Address 400 N Main St, Roswell, NM

The handsome Classical Revival courthouse stands on Main Street at the centre of the historic district. Built in 1911 from local red sandstone, it features a tall central rotunda topped with a copper dome and the standard four-column portico of small-town American civic architecture of the period.

The interior is open during business hours and worth a quick look for the original marble staircase and rotunda mosaic. Easily combined with a walk through the downtown historic district and a stop at the UFO Museum a block away.
