Beaches

The Hamptons are famously known for the miles of beaches stretching across Long Island, NY. The beaches provide visitors with an interesting social scene along with some sun and fun.

Main Beach

Main Beach is on Ocean Avenue and no one should go near the Hamptons in the summer without checking this beach out. This is a good beach for swimming and there are facilities, lifeguards, and concession stands. This beach gets very crowded during the weekend, so if you can claim a spot on the beach be sure not to leave it until you are ready to go. You must have a beach parking permit to park at the beach from May 15 to September 15. Daily parking permits can be purchased for week days for $20. You must have a season parking permit to be able to park during weekends and holidays. These permits cost around $300. Get permits at Village Hall.

Cooper’s Beach

Southampton has Cooper’s Beach, where everyone congregates for a good time. This is the only beach in Southampton. A pass is needed to park here as well. Beach chairs can be rented for $10 and umbrellas for $5. This beach tends to get crowded on weekends in the summer and is a good place to swim. Surfing and body boarding is available outside the swim area. There is a beach cafe at the pavilion with outdoor dining. The beach is supervised by a lifeguard from 9am to 5pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Parking fees are $30 per weekday and $35 on weekends.

Sagg Beach

Sagg Beach, in Sagaponak, is a great place to party. Here you will find showers, restrooms, an overlook platform, food stands, picnic tables and a volleyball court. This beach has about 1500 feet of beach front. Lifeguards are on duty 10 am to 5pm June 29 to Sept 7. Permits for non residents run about $250 for the season and day passes are $20. This beach is frequented mostly by young people wishing to socialize. Alcohol is allowed on this beach.

Cupsogue Beach

Cupsogue Beach is in Westhampton. Beach activities include swimming, fishing, scuba diving, food huts, restrooms, showers and sponsors special events during the summer season. There is a protected swimming area complete with lifeguards on duty. There is a surfing and body surfing area beyond the swimming area as well. Camping is permitted on the beach but recreational vehicles need a permit to camp. This is a family beach where children are welcome. Parking costs about $12.
