The River Cafe has occupied a converted barge at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge since 1977. It is one of the few restaurants where the view — directly across the East River to Lower Manhattan and the towers of the Financial District — qualifies as a main attraction rather than a bonus. The American cooking is competent and carefully sourced; the setting, especially at night, is simply one of the most beautiful in New York.
