Center for Brooklyn History

1881 Queen Anne library building on Pierrepont Street housing Brooklyn history collections and exhibitions

The Center for Brooklyn History (formerly Brooklyn Historical Society) occupies an 1881 Queen Anne-style building on Pierrepont Street that is itself a landmark. The library and archive hold the most complete collection of Brooklyn materials in existence; rotating exhibitions interpret Brooklyn history from the Lenape period to the present. The reading room, with its carved woodwork and stained glass, is worth seeing regardless of the current programme.
