Fort Tryon Park

High Hudson-side park with Palisades views and paths around the Cloisters

Fort Tryon Park is one of upper Manhattan's finest green spaces, set high above the Hudson River. Its paths, lawns, and overlooks give wide views across to the New Jersey Palisades, especially good on clear days.

The park is also the setting for the Met Cloisters, so it works well as a half-day outing: museum first, then a walk through the gardens and wooded slopes.
