McCarren Park spans 35 acres on the border between Williamsburg and Greenpoint. The park has baseball diamonds, a running track, bocce courts and an outdoor pool that was derelict for years before reopening in 2012. During the mid-2000s the abandoned pool hosted legendary outdoor concerts and parties that became part of the mythology of that era of Brooklyn; it now runs conventional summer swimming sessions.
