Pelham Bay Park

Pelham Bay Park is New York City's largest park, spreading across the northeast Bronx with woodland, marsh, playing fields, bike paths, and a long edge of shoreline. It feels far removed from the city's postcard version of New York, which is exactly the point.

The big draw in warm weather is Orchard Beach, but the park is better than a beach trip alone. Walk or cycle deeper in and you find salt marsh views, quieter trails, and the old Bartow-Pell Mansion area. It is a good Bronx day out if you want space, trees, and a reminder that New York has a wilder edge.
