Peter Luger Steak House

Brooklyn steakhouse institution since 1887 — the dry-aged porterhouse for two remains the city standard

Peter Luger has been serving dry-aged USDA prime porterhouse on Broadway in Williamsburg since 1887. The decor is beer hall functional, the service is famously brusque, cash only, and the steak — ordered for two, three or four — is cut tableside and served sizzling on a pewter plate. The creamed spinach and the German fried potatoes are mandatory sides. It is the steakhouse against which all others in New York are measured.
