Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden occupies 83 acres on the Staten Island waterfront at New Brighton. The site was built as a home for retired sailors in the 1830s and is one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in the United States. The complex now contains several museums, the New York Chinese Scholar's Garden, the Staten Island Botanical Garden, a children's museum and performance spaces.
