A granite fort built in 1833 at the tip of Throggs Neck to guard the western end of Long Island Sound. Named after General Philip Schuyler of the Continental Army, it now houses the Maritime Industry Museum as part of SUNY Maritime College. Exhibits trace seafaring from ancient Phoenicia to the modern era — navigational instruments, ship models, and naval history in an atmospheric historic structure most visitors never find.
