McCauley Mountain rises just outside Old Forge and gives the village its easiest high viewpoint. In winter it is a compact ski area with a surprising amount of terrain for its size; in summer and autumn the scenic chairlift is the simple reward.
At the top, the view takes in the Fulton Chain of Lakes and, on clear days, the higher Adirondack peaks beyond. It is a good choice when you want mountain scenery without committing to a long hike.
