The county airport at Queensbury is named for Floyd Bennett, the naval aviator from the area who flew Richard E. Byrd on the first claimed flight over the North Pole in 1926. (The claim has been disputed since, but Bennett's award of the Medal of Honor for the flight stands.)
The airport handles general aviation, charter flights and the occasional corporate jet, with no scheduled passenger service. It is the launch field for the Adirondack Balloon Festival every September and hosts smaller fly-ins and air shows through the warmer months. The small visitor centre has a few panels on Bennett and his career.
