Long Island Aquarium is Riverhead's headline attraction, especially for families. The exhibits include sharks, rays, turtles, and other marine life, with a mix of indoor tanks and outdoor areas close to the Peconic River.
It is commercial and built for day-trippers, but it gives Riverhead a clear reason to be more than a stop on the way to the forks.
