Stony Point Light stands inside the battlefield site and is usually described as the oldest lighthouse on the Hudson River. It is a plain stone tower, more useful than romantic, and that is part of its charm.
The lighthouse adds a second layer to the headland. After the Revolution, the same point that mattered to armies mattered to river traffic moving between New York City and Albany.
