Oregon Historic District

The Oregon District is Dayton's main entertainment neighbourhood — a compact stretch of 19th-century commercial buildings on East Fifth Street that has survived urban renewal and revived into the city's most walkable strip of restaurants, bars, and independent shops. The district's Victorian architecture gives it a character unlike the rest of downtown.

By day, antique shops and galleries line the street; by evening, the restaurants and bars take over. The neighbourhood gained national attention after the 2019 mass shooting on Fifth Street, after which the community's response and recovery were widely covered. It remains lively and active.
