The Anderson Brothers Department Store building is one of the showpieces of downtown Portsmouth — a four-storey Renaissance Revival commercial block built in 1898, with pressed-metal cornices and large round-arched windows on the upper floors. It anchored the city's main shopping street for most of the twentieth century.
The building has been adapted for mixed use but the exterior remains essentially as built. It is best seen as part of a stroll through the Boneyfiddle district and along the floodwall.
