U.S. Grant Bridge

Cable-stayed bridge spanning the Ohio River to Kentucky

The current U.S. Grant Bridge opened in 2006, replacing a 1927 suspension bridge of the same name. It carries US 23 across the Ohio River from Portsmouth to South Portsmouth, Kentucky, on a striking single-pylon cable-stayed design.

A pedestrian walkway runs the full length of the bridge — the views back across the city and along the river valley are excellent, particularly at sunset. The walk takes about twenty minutes one way.
