Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is McMinnville's headline sight and a serious aviation museum by any standard. Its centrepiece is Howard Hughes' H-4 Hercules, the vast wooden flying boat better known as the Spruce Goose. It flew only once, in 1947, but it still fills the hall with absurd, magnificent scale.

The rest of the collection covers military aircraft, spacecraft, rockets, and Cold War hardware, with enough depth to keep aircraft fans busy for half a day. The museum sits southeast of town by the municipal airport, so it is easiest to visit by car.
